Guidelines for Online Classes: HRD Ministry issued guidelines to cut screen time for nursery to 12th students

This decision will impact over 240 million enrolled students.

The guidelines said that the online classes for pre-primary students should be 30 minutes at most.

For classes 1-8, two online sessions of up to 45 minutes each should be conducted

For classes 9 to 12, the Ministry has recommended 4 sessions of 30-45 minutes duration have been recommended.

There have been concerns raised by parents about schools conducting online classes more like regular schools.

It is recommended to schedule live classes only on the weekdays only

The weekend should be spared for the assimilation of learning

During the lockdown, teachers and students should not be deprived of vacation.

As per the guidelines, teachers should not engage in 6-8  hours of online teaching in a day.

For children of migrant workers, The ministry also issued guidelines and asked the states not to strike off the names of children. The schools are directed to mark them as “migrated” or “temporarily unavailable”.

The guidelines are titled  “Pragyata”
