CBSE syllabus reduced – The new notification of CBSE says that the syllabus has been rationalized with the help of suggestions given by The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT).

HRD Ministry announced to reduce the CBSE syllabus for classes 9 to 12 by 30 % this year because of reduction in classroom teaching hours due to COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown disruption.

As per the Ministry, the core concepts will be retained so that learning outcomes will not be missed out.

Last month, suggestions from educationists for syllabus reduction and rationalization were invited and according to ministry of human resources around 1,500 suggestions were received.

CBSE has advised teachers to ensure that the reduced topics have also been explained to the extent required to connect different important topics. But the reduced syllabus will not be part of the Internal Assessment and Board Examination.

The National Council of Educational Research and Training has provided different plans to teach this curriculum due to disruptions in usual classroom teaching caused by the COVID 19 pandemic and worldwide health emergency (Schools across the country have been closed since March 16th). It has also set an alternative academic calendar for Classes 1 to 12 to maintain pedagogy in affiliated schools.

The slight reduction of the syllabus was also done by CBSE in April 2020 but after worsening the COVID Pandemic situation this major reduction was finalized.

Please note that the chapters have not been removed but some portions of the chapters have been deleted. The course is rationalized to ease the load without missing out the core concepts.
