Request to postpone JEE and NEET exams during this pandemic and save the lives of students.
To
The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India,
The Hon’ble Minister of Education,
Government of India.
Subject :- Request to postpone JEE and NEET exams during this pandemic.
Dear Sir,
As we know that the cases of COVID – 19 are increasing every day and the situation has become from poor to worse.
Despite the risk of this international pandemic, the National Testing Agency (NTA) wants the aspirants of JEE and NEET to write their exam. This is really unfortunate because health is above anything. There is no need to risk the lives of students, teachers and their family members just for an entrance test.
I would like to draw your attention to the following:-
- If the exams are conducted and a student gets corona positive, he will become a carrier not just for other students, but for his parents, grandparents and other commuters as well. The student may recover as he is young, but what about his/her parents and grandparents? They are aged and might be suffering from some disease. Who will be held responsible if something unfortunate happens to their family?
- Recently, the Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh state government had conducted the KCETand UP BEd JEE with the standard operating procedures respectively. But after looking at the visuals of the exam centres, it has been proved that the SOP’s were just on paper. It is not possible to follow them on the ground. No one can trust the SOP’s anymore as social distancing was witnessed to be a joke in Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Kerala’s exams.
- There is poor transport system throughout the country amid COVID – 19.It will be extremely hectic for students to travel to the exam centres right now by taking necessary precautions like social distancing. Some states like Bihar just have 2 exam centres for NEET, how can we expect a student to travel by risking his/her life during this pandemic?
- Since the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) cancelled the exams of around 6 Lakh students of class 12thamid COVID – 19 when the cases were comparatively less, then why can’t the NTA postpone JEE and NEET which has over 26 – 28 Lakh aspirants? Even exams of (NIOS), remedial exams of Bihar Board (BSEB) have been cancelled due to the brutal risk of the pandemic. Why do they want to risk the lives of 28 Lakh students and their families when the condition of COVID – 19 is even worse?
- The condition of the corona is extremely severe as compared to May and July. How can the government push children to appear for the exams forcefully despite being aware of this deadly and brutal virus? We are suffering from loads of stress and mental pressure because the Ministry of HRD/Education and the NTA officials are not helping the youth of the nation.
Students from all over the country want the exams to be postponed. They have been constantly requesting the Ministry of HRD and the NTA through their tweets. No one wants to put their lives at risk.
Therefore, I request you to kindly postpone JEE and NEET 2020 from September to some other month, when the situation of COVID – 19 improves. Please, don’t put our lives at risk. I would really want the State governments to support the postponement of JEE and NEET exams, as health is above anything. NEET and JEE need’s to be postponed.
I’ll be looking forward to your benign perusal.
Thank You so much.
Sincerely Yours
