In a tragic incident, three UPSC aspirants lost their lives after being trapped in the basement of Rau’s IAS Study Circle in Central Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar. The basement flooded rapidly when a nearby drain burst during heavy rainfall, trapping the students inside. The incident occurred around 7 PM on Saturday, and rescue operations involved the Delhi Fire Services and National Disaster Response Force divers.

According to reports, the basement, which housed a library where students gathered for self-study, filled with 10-12 feet of water within minutes. Despite immediate calls to emergency services, traffic jams delayed the arrival of rescue teams. The bodies of two students were recovered late Saturday night, while efforts to find a third person are ongoing.

This incident follows closely on the heels of another tragedy involving a UPSC aspirant who was electrocuted on a waterlogged street in Delhi. The events have sparked criticism from the BJP, targeting the ruling AAP and local legislators for alleged negligence​
